Tōya Fujii wakes up to a television interview with his romantic interest and idol singer Yuki Morikawa, and laments the time they have to spend together. Later in the day Tōya has a conversation with Yuki, before she departs for work. At work, Rina Ogata finds Yuki has been bullied by an idol group. After Yuki resolves the problem, she calls Tōya on the phone before Rina catches her and expresses interest in seeing him. || November, 1986. Second-year student at Yunagi university, Touya Fuji, is having a nightmare one morning. The dream is about his girlfriend and newly-cast idol, Yuki Morikawa. Touya oversleeps and misses his first day of a part-time job. He is promptly fired and reluctantly goes to school. There, he bumps into Yuka who is on her way to a taping of a TV show. The two of them have a brief chat. Touya`s college sempai, Misaki Sawakura, gives him some advice which rattles him a bit: "You`ll be seeing even less of her going forward." Thanks to an introduction by his good friend, Akira Nanase, Touya lands a job working at Echoes cafe. At the same time, Yuki is about to film a TV shoot with her sempai from her agency, Rina Ogata. Yuki, having a minor role in the shoot, ends up being disliked by a group of idols known as Sakuradan. They pull a nasty stunt on her... Source: crunchyroll

After his conversation with Yuki on the phone, Tōya initially refuses, but later relents to accompany his childhood friend Haruka Kawashima on a walk. Meanwhile, Rina walks into her brother, Eiji Ogata's room, and finds Yuki in tears after their conversation. The next day, Yuki and Rina arrives at the café Echoes, Tōya's workplace. Rina then asks Tōya for his telephone number prior to her departure, and later calls him at night. || Yuki stops by music star-turned-studio president, Eiji Ogata`s home, after finishing shooting a TV shoot. At the same time, Touya is paid a surprise visit by his childhood friend, and college classmate, Haruka Kawashima. The two of them go for a walk together. Yuki finds Rina crying in Eiji`s bedroom and wonders what`s going on. The next day, two girls clad in poor disguises come to cafe Echoes where Touya is working. It turns out to be Rina and Yuki. Yuki leaves to go to work and Rina, alone at this point, writes a message for Touya on a napkin: "Can I have your phone number?" Source: crunchyroll

At night, Rina calls Tōya on the phone and offers him a job to help her manager, which he accepts to meet Yuki. Later, Tōya receives a call from Yuki, who invites him on a date on Saturday. Tōya then asks Haruka to apply his university registration on that day and accepts the invitation. The following day, Tōya heads to work and finds he is promoted as Rina's assistant. Rina then admonishes Tōya and Yuki as an attempt to create time for the two. Later, Tōya receives calls and learns that his date is canceled and he is fired as Rina's assistant. He then accepts a job to become a tutor for Mana Mizuki, and arrives at Echoes and learns that it was Eiji Ogata who fired him. || Rina offers Touya a part time job "Helping out her manager." It starts tomorrow, she says, and he can do it without quitting his job at Echoes. Touya cancels his job as a tutor, more out of a desire to see Yuki than interest in the job itself. When he goes to the studio the next day, Rina`s manager is fired, and Eiji promotes him from help to official manager despite his inexperience. Tōya awakes to a telephone call from Rina, who adjusts the meeting venue and time for his date with Yuki. The next day, Tōya arrives at Hotarugasaki Station, and meets Mana Mizuki, who is on her way to attend school. The two waits for Yuki and after a short while, Mana proposes to Tōya to wait for Yuki at Hotarugasaki Academy, their destination. At the meantime, Rina arrives at Yūnagi Station, where she adjusts the meeting venue to, but leaves after waiting for Tōya. Later, Yuki arrives at Hotarugasaki Station, and decides to look for Tōya elsewhere after awaiting him. At night, the two stumbles upon each other. Yuki then reveals to Tōya that she is granted a single release, and invites him into her apartment. || Saturday, thanks to Rina`s intervention, Touya and Yuki are able to go on their first date in a long time. They decide to go to their old high school, Harugasaki High. There, Yuki will reveal half of her secret. Early that morning, Rina tells Touya that the time and place of the date have changed, in an attempt to have time with him for herself. But Touya accidentally messes up the time and place that Rina designated. While waiting anxiously for Yuki, Touya meets a senior at Hotarugaki High, Mana Mizuki. After spending the night at Yuki's apartment, Tōya accepts Yayoi Shinozuka's offer for transportation to home. Yayoi then offers Tōya to a movie and dinner, and attempts to seduces Tōya to break up with Yuki. Later, Misaki requests Tōya to provide an opinion on a manuscript she has written for a play. The next day, Tōya arrives in campus to meet Misaki. The theater club however, forcefully accepts Misaki's manuscript, and assigns her to create the materials needed before the conversation can take place. Later that night, Misaki, not knowing what to do, calls Tōya and requests his help. || The next day, Yuki`s manager, Yayoi Shinozuka, is waiting for Touya. She tells him that their thoughtless actions are perfect bait for celebrity gossip magazines. Yayoi tells him of a trap that Rina once fell into, and subtly hints that he should break up with Yuki. That evening, Yayoi suddenly visits Touya at his home, and unable to refuse her request, he finds himself going out with her. On the way back in the car, she steals a kiss from him. Touya flees from her back to his room, and there he sees the script that Misaki wrote for the drama club`s school fair play. As he flips through the pages, his phone rings... Source: crunchyroll

At night, Yuki finishes the recording session for her single, while Misaki moves into Tōya's father's house in order to prepare for her materials for the play. The following day, Tōya again heads to work as a tutor, and is surprised to find Mana as his student, whom he mistaken as her sister. Afterwards, Tōya and Misaki heads to Echoes to have dinner. Rina later comes in and mistakes Tōya and Misaki in a relationship. Eiji then takes Tōya and Rina to a recording session, while Tōya attempts to explain for the misunderstanding. || I won`t fall asleep tonight. I`m waiting. Touya receives this message from Yuki via Haruka. While he considers how to respond, he gets a call from a frantic Misaki. Her script itself was accepted by the Drama Club, but the Drama Club president, with whom she has a past with, is forcing her to make all the props and clothes herself. The time limit is two weeks. Touya happily offers to help Misaki, and she begins to calm down. After he gets off the phone, he runs to Yuki`s apartment, but finds Yayoi`s car parked in front. He turns around and leaves. The next day he reconsiders and goes back, but she isn`t there. At the same time, Yuki is in Studio Tri-Sad, beginning the recording of the debut single that Eiji wrote for her, "White Album"...
