It’s another idyllic day in the countryside, but things are anything but ordinary when Renge meets Akane, a flutist who has trouble playing in front of other people. || One spring day, Miyauchi Renge plays her recorder as she makes her way to school earlier than usual. The students have music class today, and they`ll be performing together. She tells a high school student riding her bus, Fujimiya Konomi, that she`s having trouble playing the "do" note, and they agree to practice together sometime soon. But even Hotaru needs to act like a kid now and then… or at least that’s what Konomi thinks. || One Sunday, Kazuho asks Renge to help her plant some saplings in the garden. When Kazuho teases Renge by telling her the saplings they`re planting are bell peppers, Renge tries to get out of helping, but Kazuho brings her back by admitting it was a joke. Turns out neither one of them is very good at it. || It`s summer, and Natsumi is lounging at home when the doorbell rings. The visitor is Miyauchi Hikage, who`s returned home from Tokyo for summer break. Hikage says she wants to play something that`ll give her a chance to move around a lot since she just got off the Shinkansen, and Natsumi is eager to join in. Ren pays Candy Store a visit to spend her New Year’s allowance, but her purchase puts Candy Store in an awkward position — one Natsumi finds absolutely HILARIOUS. || The tomato plants they planted in spring are bearing lots of tomatoes, and it`s time to harvest them. After tasting one of the tomatoes she raised herself, Renge is overwhelmed by the delicious flavor and decides to take some tomatoes to everyone, declaring herself a midsummer Santa Claus. Her last stop is the candy store, but on the way there, she meets an unfamiliar little girl who`s crying because she`s lost. Renge isn`t sure what to do, so she makes a decision... But Hotaru isn’t a master of robotics just yet, and her pet project still has a long way to go before it’s ready to fly. || Komari is going crazy as Natsumi forces her to dress up as a robot for her summer research project. Hotaru also plans to work on her own project today, since she`s at home alone for the day. Her project combines a talking robot with a walking robot. She uses her dad`s computer to input the lines her robot will say and places the necessary mechanisms for both robots in one of her Koma-plushies, which she then places on a stuffed dog. Ren’s heart and mind are prepared, but a nighttime stroll through the woods will put her willpower to the test. || Near the end of summer break, Renge goes on a camping trip with everyone from school. The kids can`t resist eating too much of the delicious grilled meat and vegetables, and their teacher, Kazuho, has too much alcohol and gets drunk. But beginner’s luck will only get you so far, and there’s something weighing on Akane’s mind… || Akane`s senpai tells her that she`s quitting their club to study for entrance exams. Akane starts to wonder if Konomi will also quit, feeling sad as she remembers that Konomi was the one who helped her make friends in the club and improve her flute playing. On her way home, Akane runs into Konomi at the station. She tells Akane that she`s on her way to visit the Koshigayas and was looking around at a festival going on near the station for some gifts to bring them. Soon it will be spring, and time for Koshigaya Suguru`s graduation ceremony. When the day comes, the remaining students and their parents watch as Kazuho hands Suguru his graduation certificate.
