The protagonist, Kurogane Yaiba, is a samurai wild child who trains in the jungle with his father, Kenjurou. By a twist of fate, the determined samurai, Yaiba, returns to Japan and encounters his rival, Onimaru Takeshi. Yaiba, who lives for serious battles, embarks on a spectacular adventure when Onimaru obtains the "Legendary Demon Sword!"

1. Meeting Yaiba
Yaiba Kurogane is determined to become a true samurai, but things take an odd turn in the jungle.
2. Fujinken Reborn
Yaiba has come up with a plan and is willing to do nearly anything to provoke Onimaru to a duel.
3. Another Maken
Onimaru now wants to fight Yaiba, but something's off, not least the horns sprouting from his head.
4. Attack of the Eight Ogres
Yaiba has the Raijinken but it's the Thunder God that turns the tables on him. Then there's Onimaru.
5. Onsen Fun
Yaiba et al. head to Ganryu Island to learn about an arcane maken but end up at a shady hot spring.
6. The Unexpected Mr. Bat
Yaiba and crew are back on track but stop in Nagoya where there's more in store than great food.
7. Kojiro Resurrected
Yaiba and his companions finally reach Ganryujima, where they encounter Mr. Spider — and a resurrected, but somewhat peeved, Sasaki Kojiro.
8. The Duel at Ganryu Island
Musashi and Kojiro's duel must proceed as recorded so Yaiba can return to his original time, but Yaiba's careless comment threatens to change history.
9. Episode 9
Needing to develop a new sword technique that can counter Onimaru, Yaiba undergoes further grueling training with Musashi — and a scheming Kojiro.
10. Episode 10
Yaiba and his companions storm Onimaru Castle, but they fall through a trap into the depths of the stronghold and face Onimaru's new henchmen.
